Just when you think flu season is over… it strikes again. Â
This is the exact time of year we see those late-season cases of this miserable virus…
And if you catch it, you could end up in be… or the hospital… or worse.
Luckily, there’s a way to fight back against the flu.
Even better? It can SLASH your risk of dying from this illness in HALF.
Here’s exactly how to do it.
When was the last time you went for a walk?
… Or took a swim?
… Or went for a round of golf for your buddies?
If you can’t remember, it’s time to change that.
Because according to new research, being more active can help lower your chances of dying from the flu or pneumonia.
For the study, scientists analyzed the exercise habits and flu or pneumonia outcomes of 578,000 adults, looking for a connection between the two.
And boy, did they find one!
The results showed that folks who did moderate aerobic exercise for 150 minutes weekly and at least two strength training activities weekly reduced their risk of dying from flu or pneumonia by 48 percent!
All you have to do is walk, bike, or swim to beat these infections? This is fantastic news!
Experts report that exercise and strength training help fight infections because these activities help fortify your immune system.
Aerobic exercises include brisk walking, swimming, biking, Zumba, and water aerobics.
Strength training includes weightlifting, resistance band exercises, golf, pickleball, and gardening.
Now, 150 minutes might seem like an impossible amount. But you don’t have to start there.
Getting out for a ten or 15-minute walk is a great way to get back into exercising. And when you feel up to it, extend the time or try a new activity.
Doing so just may save your life.
