But I have a serious warning for anyone using the Vital Proteins brand of collagen peptides, especially if you purchased this supplement from Costco.  

Because if you are using a specific batch of this product, you could be ingesting plastic! 

Vital Proteins and Costco have voluntarily recalled a single batch of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides — Unflavored (24 oz) that may contain broken blue pieces of plastic from a broken lid. 

Costco stores sold this product between April 17th and April 24th in the following states:  

  • Alabama,  
  • Connecticut, 
  •  Delaware,  
  • Georgia,  
  • Florida,  
  • Indiana,  
  • Illinois,  
  • Iowa, 
  • Massachusetts, 
  • Mississippi,  
  • Missouri,  
  • New Hampshire,  
  • New Jersey,  
  • New York,  
  • North Carolina,  
  • Pennsylvania, 
  • South Carolina,  
  • Tennessee,  
  • Vermont,  
  • Wisconsin,  
  • And the US territory of Puerto Rico.

At this time, no injuries have been reported. And consumers can return the compromised product to Costco for a full refund.  

Now, I’m not saying you need to swear off collagen forever. It’s really good for you! 

Just make sure the supplement you take isn’t part of this recall. And if it is, stop using it immediately!
