Greek “Medicine” Fruit SINKS Heart Disease Risk

If you’ve got heart disease, chances are you’re doing everything possible to get rid of it.

You’re walking every morning… eating more seafood… and even trying out meditation.

But if you’re skipping a certain tasty snack, you could be missing out on some crucial heart protection.

You see, there’s a Greek “medicine” fruit that’s been healing folks for eons…

And modern research shows it can SINK your risk of heart disease, too!

Hippocrates – the father of modern medicine – first recorded using prunes as a medicine in 450 BC.

And according to a new study, it looks like he was on to something.

For the new study, published in the Journal of Medicinal Foods, researchers divided a group of 48 healthy, post-menopausal women into three groups. One group ate 100g of prunes, and another ate 50mg daily for six months. The last group ate no prunes.

All participants had their heart disease markers measured at the beginning and end of the study to determine if the prunes impacted their heart health.

And boy, did they!

At the end, both prune groups saw:

  • Reduced inflammation,
  • Increased HDL “good” cholesterol,
  • Lowered total cholesterol ratio to HDL,
  • And a higher antioxidant capacity.

Incredible! All of these factors play a role in preventing heart disease!

Here’s the interesting part…

There was no significant difference between the 100g group and the 50mg group. This means you can get all the heart protection you need by adding about five prunes to your daily diet.

Researchers believe that prunes work against heart disease because of their unique nutrient profile, which includes fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins.

Prunes are available at your local grocery store.

As the study suggests, eating about five a day is enough to boost your heart health!
