Diabetes? This Nightly Habit Could Be to Blame! 

Keeping your blood sugar down can feel like a full-time job.  

You’ve got to count calories… take your meds… and always poke your fingers.

And as it turns out, that’s simple to do.  

Because research shows that changing just one nighttime habit could be the key to balancing your blood sugar once and for all.  

If you’re using a night light… or sleeping with the tv on… or even using a reading light… it’s time to STOP.  

Because a new study shows that nighttime light exposure can send your blood sugar off the rails! 

For the study, researchers from Northwestern University divided a group of healthy adults into two groups. One group slept in total darkness. And the other group slept with a night light on.  

All participants had their melatonin – a hormone that induces sleep — and their blood sugar levels monitored throughout the two-night study. 

And the results were shocking! 

The night light exposure caused the participants to have significantly higher blood sugar results than those sleeping in darkness.  

In fact, the light group also experienced increased insulin resistance — a key driver of diabetes.

This means even one night of sleeping with a light, tv, or tablet on could impact your blood sugar. 

YIKES!  

Researchers report that nighttime light is so impactful because it decreases melatonin levels, making it harder for your body to get the sound rest it needs. 

So, if you’re sleeping with the lights on, it’s time to turn them OFF.  

But that doesn’t mean you have to go blindly into the night when you need the restroom.  

Swap out your constant night light for a motion-activated one. This way, it only clicks on when you need to find your way in the night.
